The Unmarried Wife

November 21, 2016 2 Comments

I’m a big fan of Star Cinema.  Whenever they release a movie (except for some of their comedies), I make sure that I catch it!  The Unmarried Wife is a timely movie especially that a lot are getting married these days.  I’m both curious and eager to know anything about a marriage whether it’s good or bad.  In this movie by Maryo J. Delos Reyes, it focuses on the pain of a wife who is torn between her husband and her lover.  I’m really curious why she would resort to having another man and why would her husband hurt her so much to push her to open up her heart to someone else?

The Unmarried Wife

The movie was effective because Angelica Panganiban was super awesome in the movie.   She made me cry countless times that we had to stay in the cinema for a couple of minutes so that I don’t have to be embarrassed with my red nose & puffy eyes, hehe!

Whenever I watch a movie, I focus on what it teaches me.  For me, a movie is a product of experiences from the writers.  There’s always something they want the audience to take away from the product that they made.  So for all my movie reviews here, I will share the lessons that I got from watching the movie.  It doesn’t matter how many or how little, there will always be something to take away from it.

So in here, The Unmarried Wife taught me the following:

  • Quality Time is very important.  You should always prioritize having time for your spouse.  No matter how busy you are at work, you should make time.
  • Be sensitive of your spouse’s needs.  Never ever take it for granted.  While work is critical, remember that you’re doing that for your family.  So never neglect your duty as a partner.
  • Lying is a grave sin.  Once trust is broken, it’s going to be extremely difficult to take it back.  Never ever betray your spouse.  Communication is key to resolving all those conflicts & frustrations.
  • When you forgive someone, you should let go of all the wrong things you’ve forgiven your partner for.  If you continue to let his/her mistake haunt you while saying you’ve forgiven him/her, it is as good as if not more painful than not forgiving him/her at all.
  • A mother’s love is unconditional and so pure.  She can be as selfless as she can be for her child/children.
  • Do not ever enter a relationship with a married person.  You are not only defying God’s commandment but you are hurting & destroying deeply one family.  And this can take a negative toll especially on a child forever.
  • One child’s values forms through the effect of his/her childhood, through the pain or joy he/she goes through with his/her parents.  Always be a good example as this has a lasting effect on your child.

I don’t really like watching Filipino love stories… I guess it all stemmed from the belief that sometimes the movies makes you believe in something that is quite far from what is happening in real life… But I am super curious to see this film, especially since I have always believed that Angelica, Paolo and Dingdong are really effective actors. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your take-aways from this film, sweets. Hope I get to see this soon.
