Part-time Idol is the shortest Korean series that I have watched with only five episodes. If you’re looking for a short binge-watch, you can never go wrong with Part-time Idol.
While it’s short, I love the story, how the story progressed and the heart-warming theme of the series. The acting wasn’t too stellar for some of the main characters but it was still believable! Ultimately, Part-time Idol’s good vibe is the main reason why it’s a must-watch.
Part-Time Idol (2017)
The storyline takes place at an entertainment agency. After creating a bunch of famous idols, a producer begins to question the whole process of making a star, so he goes on a break for a few years. Once he returns to the company, he gathers some trainees left on the back burner and tries to launch a co-ed idol group. The trainees undergo some peculiar training to debut in this group.
Here are the reasons why I loved watching Part-time Idol:
- It’s good to have a glimpse on how a K-pop group is formed. While Part-time Idol is fictional, there’s a lil bit of reality into it.
- The advocacy of the famous producer in helping out artists who aren’t given a chance to showcase their talents.
- The way the producer made the 5 young artists reach their dreams by encouraging them to help and support each other.
- I loved how they focused on one artist at a time to help. This gave us a good glimpse of the background & struggles of each of the artist. More importantly, how the encouragement helped each of them overcome their fears.
- I appreciated the fact that they showed the young artists sticking it out with each other when things got rough.
- It was heart-warming to see that the group sought out and exerted effort to help their mentor/producer when he was undergoing a rough patch.
- it reminded me about the importance of patience, generosity, loyalty, love, compassion and gratitude.
